Those desiring to join our congregation are asked to attend our "Welcome to St. Mark's" session and the Alpha course. After completing these, those who desire to join will be received as new partners (members) in ministry at St. Mark's during a Sunday morning service.
"Welcome to St. Mark's"
Learn more about St. Mark's at our informal sessions called “Welcome to St. Mark's.” In these sessions, you will:
- learn about our core beliefs
- discover opportunities to be involved in our mission and our various ministries
Our “Welcome to St. Mark's” sessions are offered several times a year. The next one will be on Monday, April 1, 6:15-8:30 pm. Childcare is available with advance registration. To register or to request childcare, please e-mail Marlys (email@example.com) or call 447-0100.
The Alpha course provides an opportunity to ask questions and explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting. It covers the basics of Christianity and answers questions like "Who is Jesus?" and "Why did he die?" The Alpha course usually lasts 13 weeks, with a weekend retreat in the middle. Each week, guests gather for about two hours. They share an informal meal, sing a few songs, listen to a talk on how Christianity approaches the question at hand, then gather into small groups for discussion. The talks each week act as a springboard for small group discussions. Check out this two-minute video.
Our winter Alpha session will start off with an introductory dinner and video on Sunday January 13 at 5:30 pm. Weekly sessions will be on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 pm beginning January 16! Come and join us—and invite a friend to come with you! Childcare is provided (with advance registration). For more information or to sign up, contact Marlys at firstname.lastname@example.org or 447-0100.
