A grief support group serving the Cedar Rapids community and surrounding area
GriefShare is offered at St. Mark's once or twice a year on Sunday afternoons at 3 pm. Each session is a stand-alone session, so participants may attend any time during the 13-week program.
GriefShare provides an understanding, supportive environment for people grieving the loss of someone close. GriefShare is led by people who have experienced the deep hurt of losing a loved one--such as a spouse, child, sibling, or parent. The series is also beneficial for individuals who may encounter those who are grieving.
Each GriefShare session includes a video featuring experts on grief and recovery subjects, as well as real-life stories of people who have experienced loss. Support group discussion follows, during which participants have the opportunity to share their own experiences, if they desire.
GriefShare topics include:
Is This Normal?
Challenges of Grief
The Journey of Grief, Part 1
The Journey of Grief, Part 2
Grief and Your Relationships
Guilt and Anger
Lessons of Grief, Part 1
Lessons of Grief, Part 2
What Do I Live for Now?
There is no cost for participants. However, pre-registration is requested so that adequate preparations can be made.
Feel free to share this information with anyone who might benefit from the program. Past participants, whether grieving a recent loss or one more distant, have praised the program for its healing effect. Detailed brochures are available from St. Mark's.
